Workshop Rotation Model Sunday School
The Workshop Rotation Model for Sunday School is an approach to teaching biblical stories using a variety of learning styles. Research tells us that students learn best when a variety of methods are used to teach to their individual learning styles. Some children learn best by listening to a story, while others may learn by acting the story out or seeing it acted out by others.
Experience and repetition are at the foundation of workshop rotation Sunday School. One Bible story or theme is the focus of a four to six week unit. Each week the students, who are grouped by age, rotate to different workshops that help them experience the story in a variety of ways. In each of the rotational units students may be watching a video, playing computer games, acting out the story with puppets, making an art project, playing a game, or doing a science or cooking activity that goes with a specific bible story or theme.
The goal of the SS Disciple Ship is for children to know and experience God’s love through the stories of the bible.
